Bald Head Island Transportation, Inc., Bald Head Island, North Carolina has contracted with Island Boats to construct a new aluminum 82' LOA by 28' beam catamaran passenger ferry. The new passenger ferry is an addition to their existing fleet of 3 monohull vessels and when put in service will be the workhorse of their ferry service. The vessel is their first purpose built vessel and will be used to transport passengers and cargo from the company owned dock facility at South Port, NC to the private resort of Bald Head Island via the Cape Fear River.

The vessel will feature a rear cargo area of 18' by 20' which will store a total of 24 baggage carts with a maximum payload of 16,000 lbs.

The vessel will be inspected and constructed to a USCG SubChapter T configuration, however, the vessel is being outfitted as a SubChapter K vessel, which the owner will pursue after construction of the vessel.

Passenger accommodations will be provided via a combination of Turnbull booth style seating throughout the main cabin. Additional passenger aluminum bench seating will be provided on the upper deck.

The vessel will be fitted with two- four (4) ton HVAC units and a bow thruster. Ships power is via twin 40kw Isuzu 3 phase generator sets. Fresh and black water systems are provided as well as sound insulation and structural fire protection throughout the vessel. Ship's main power is through Cummins KTA-19M3 diesels and ZF marine transmissions through 3" Aquamet shafting and Michigan Dyna Quad propellers.
