Frogman Charters, Inc., Lahainia, Hawaii has contracted with Island Boats, Inc., to construct a new 55'LOA by 23' beam catamaran excursion vessel. The new vessel will replace an existing sailing catamaran excursion vessel and allow the company to access new areas due to its greater speed. The new ferry was designed by Morrelli & Melvin, Inc., Long Beach, California (Pete Melvin)

The vessel will be a USCG certified, 149 passenger SubChapter T boat with many unique features. The vessel features an extended bow to lengthen the waterline of the vessel to allow a high passenger load on a relatively short platform. Due to dockage limitations, the vessel had to maintain a maximum overall length of 55'. Extending the beam of the vessel to 23' and shifting the LCG forward by the use of extended bows accomplished the high passenger load.

The vessel will feature a rear fold up swim platform to ease access for the water for the owner's many snorkeling tours. The vessel will also feature a glass bottom viewing area on one of the hulls, a wet bar, soda dispenser, dual heads and stainless steel barbeque pit.

Passenger accommodations will be provided via a combination of Burteaux outdoor seating fabricated aluminum benches. Passengers are kept out of the high prevailing winds through a three sided main cabin, open in back, and a windbreaker on the upper deck.
